Trace by Reliable Group

The evidence layer behind Reliable Group engagements.

Trace sees how your company actually works: on your devices, inside your own environment, under your controls. It is the instrument we use to ground our diligence, Blueprints and operating engagements in evidence instead of opinion.

In an in-boundary deployment, captured content and analysis remain inside your environment. Access is restricted to named authorized personnel under agreed controls.

The problem

Discovery is guesswork. Trace is evidence.

Every operational initiative starts the same way: interviews, process maps, and workshops. People describe their work from memory, and decisions get made on those descriptions. The problem is that how people describe their work and how they actually do it are rarely the same thing.

And when an experienced team member leaves, the gap becomes permanent. Years of institutional knowledge, the workarounds, the exceptions, the judgment calls, walk out the door with them.

We built Trace because we refused to keep designing operations on hearsay. It observes real work as it happens and turns it into process documentation that reflects how your operation actually runs rather than how it was once described.

Described vs. actual

Interview-based discovery captures what people remember and choose to share, not what they actually do all day.

Knowledge walks out the door

When a long-tenured team member resigns, you typically have weeks to capture years of institutional knowledge. Handover documents never come close.

Point-in-time snapshots go stale

Traditional assessments describe one moment. Operations change every month, and the report on the shelf does not.

The Reliable Group method

Our entire process runs on Trace

Reliable Group works in three stages. Trace is the instrument underneath all of them, so decisions in the engagement are grounded in how your operation actually behaves, not how anyone describes it.

Trace one instrument, end to end

01

Diligence

Know before you commit.

Before you acquire, invest, or commit to an operational initiative, Trace gives you an empirical read on how the business actually operates: where the real work happens, where the friction lives, and how much of it is ready for AI, automation, or a global capability center team. Weeks of observation replace months of assumptions.

02

Blueprint

Design from evidence.

The Blueprint is the operational design for your initiative: the workflows, the organization, the financial model. Built on Trace, it starts from captured reality instead of interview notes. Your experts spend their time validating findings, not describing their jobs, and the design inherits none of the guesswork.

03

Build & Operate

Prove the change.

Reliable Group builds and operates your team inside your own entity, equipped with AI. Trace stays on as the measurement layer: run one month per quarter, it shows exactly how work has changed, so improvement is demonstrated quarter after quarter, not asserted in a report.

One instrument, end to end. The evidence that starts the engagement is the same evidence that proves it worked.

The process

How Trace works

01

Capture

Trace's workflow capture engine, built and maintained by Reliable Group, runs locally on the machines your team designates inside your own client-controlled environment. It records how work actually happens: the applications used, the steps taken, the handoffs between systems.

02

Protect

Capture is limited to approved applications and windows. An excluded window is never admitted to the capture stream by the operating system, so its content is not captured rather than captured and then filtered. On-device removal of structured secrets is an additional safeguard on top of that scope limit, not complete filtering and not de-identification.

03

Secure

The record stays on the device, inside your environment, in a local store with no media files. The data directory is relocatable to storage your IT team approves, file permissions are restricted to the installing user and verified at install, and no captured content is sent to any cloud service.

04

Understand

Reliable Group's analysis layer aggregates the captured work across team members, removes the noise, and synthesizes it into a clear picture of your real workflows: what gets done, how often, by whom, and where the friction lives.

05

Rank and act

Every workflow is stack-ranked into three lanes: best handled by AI, best handled through automation and integration, and best handled by your global capability center team. Your subject-matter experts validate each call. You get an evidence-based roadmap, not a slide deck of opinions.

Privacy & security

Your devices. Your cloud. Your keys.

Trace was engineered for organizations where privacy and compliance are non-negotiable.

Denied at source, not filtered later

Only named applications are recorded. An excluded window is never admitted to the capture stream by the operating system, so its content is not captured in the first place. Audio, keystroke content and clipboard are all disabled.

Your environment, no vendor cloud

Capture and analysis both run inside your environment and no captured content leaves it. There is no Reliable Group cloud in the path, no vendor account, and product analytics and crash reporting are switched off and verified before go-live.

Named access, US persons only

Access to captured data and the resulting documentation is restricted to named authorized individuals who are US persons. Reliable Group offshore personnel do not have access to an engagement’s captured data. Administrators set policy centrally and do not see captured content.

Tamper-evident read log

Every read of captured data made through our analysis layer is recorded in an append-only, hash-chained log. Installation is gated on that log running and its chain verifying, and you can verify the chain yourself in one command. Two limits stated rather than left to be found: it records reads rather than the capture pipeline, and it does not cover someone with local file access reading the on-device store directly. That path is governed by file permissions restricted to the installing user.

No vendor in your data path

Reliable Group compiles and signs its own build on an MIT-licensed open-source foundation at a pinned commit, and does not deploy upstream binaries. No vendor cloud, vendor account or vendor telemetry is used. Because the commit is pinned, upstream fixes do not arrive automatically: we monitor advisories for the pinned dependency set, back-port what applies, and notify you in writing before any change.

The configuration, control by control

Trace capture controls and their configured setting
ControlSetting
Capture scopeAllow-list of named applications. Applications and windows outside the list are denied at source: an excluded window is never admitted to the capture stream by the operating system.
Microphone and system audioNot captured.
Keystroke captureDisabled. Application switch events are retained; the content of typing is not recorded.
ClipboardNot captured.
Screenshot retentionText-only. No frames persist. Frames are used transiently for text extraction where no accessibility text exists, then discarded.
Structured-secret removalOn-device, before data is written. Early-stage, validated against a seeded corpus before go-live, and not a sole control or de-identification.
Browser scopingA window-title heuristic, not URL enforcement. Path-level exclusion within a site is not supported. Where a browser-reached system must be out of scope, exclude it at the application or account level, or exclude the browser.
Local interfaceLoopback only. Authentication enabled and network exposure disabled by Reliable Group. No inbound connections.
TelemetryProduct analytics and crash reporting disabled and verified before go-live. No telemetry leaves your environment.
Execution contextUserspace application. No kernel driver and no kernel extension. Reliable Group signs its own build.
Encryption at restPlatform full-disk encryption configured with your IT team. Protects a powered-off device, not a running system.
File permissionsThe on-device store is restricted to the installing user. Set and verified as an install step.
Audit logAppend-only, hash-chained, tamper-evident log of every read through our analysis layer. Supervised service bound to loopback; install is gated on the chain verifying. Off-box export to your SIEM or write-once storage is available.
Data residencyIn-boundary. Capture and analysis both inside your environment, with no captured content leaving it.
Access permissionsRequests through the local interface are restricted to specified applications, windows and content types, with raw-database and raw-frame endpoints denied at the interface layer. A deterministic policy in the request path, not an instruction to a model.
AccessNamed authorized US persons only. Reliable Group offshore personnel have no access to an engagement’s captured data.
Retention and destructionSet by agreement. Deletion by date range supported, with database compaction and written evidence of destruction.
UninstallStandard managed uninstall deployable by your device management. Local data directory removed at decommission with evidence.

Every setting above is evidenced to your security team before go-live rather than asserted here. Deployment is announced, never covert, and includes a visible pause control.

The technical review package

Your IT and security teams receive the architecture overview, the endpoint fact sheet and the scope agreement, then a joint session that closes the open items against the specific release you would deploy: licence evidence at the pinned commit, the signed build, the software bill of materials, the dependency vulnerability position, and validation of on-device secret removal against a seeded corpus with residual risk documented.

Use cases

Where Trace changes the outcome

You are about to commit capital

An acquisition or an operational investment is on the table. Trace gives you an empirical read on how the business actually runs before you decide, in weeks, without a single workshop.

A key team member is leaving

You have 30 days before 15 years of knowledge walks out the door. Trace captures their final weeks of real work with zero handover burden on them, and turns it into a permanent institutional record.

You know AI can help. You do not know where.

Instead of guessing at use cases, Trace shows you empirically which workflows are ready for AI, which need integration work, and which belong with your global capability center team.
